Commission is often calculated from reservation data that can change before the guest leaves or never arrives. Reconciliation therefore has to compare the commission charged or paid with the final eligible stay economics.

Common changes that affect commission

  • Cancellation or no-show.
  • Early departure or shortened stay.
  • Rate adjustment.
  • Noncommissionable rate or channel status.
  • Approved post-stay correction.

The test is not simply rate times booking value

A defensible calculation needs the eligible revenue base, applicable rate, final stay status and any valid exclusions or adjustments. The recovery case should preserve those inputs so the amount can be reproduced later.

Why evidence matters

A commission difference should not become an external claim just because two totals differ. The final stay and the OTA financial line need enough common identifiers and support to prove that they refer to the same economic event.
